Bangladesh Stumped

Just a quick comment about Ireland's Twenty20 World Cup win over Bangladesh today. I know that cricket purists don't like Twenty20 and that's fair enough, but Ireland's win at Trent Bridge this afternoon means we're into the Super Eights no matter our result against India in our remaining pool game. After our exploits in the Carribean in 2007, this is the second successive Cricket World Cup that Ireland will be a last eight participant, an achievement that (my reckoning) has only been matched on a global level by our rugby players, and even then not for 14 years. Congrats to all, in particular Niall O' Brien who kicked ass on one leg today. Great sport.

  1. Ireland have a tough group in the Super Eights, though they might just fancy themselves against Pakistan, who have been inconsistent of late.
